Communicator, educator and volunteer pursues seat in Ward 11
July 12, 2021: There are already seven candidates running to be councillor of Ward 11 on Oct. 18, 2021, so why am I tossing my hat into the ring? The answer has nothing to do with the other candidates. The answer has to do with me.
I'm running for councillor of Ward 11 because a few of my neighbours encouraged me to take advantage of my 15 years as a volunteer director of the Lakeview Community Association, my 21 years running an investor relations firm here in Calgary and my three years as a Mount Royal University instructor to serve this amazing city. This would be my honour.
As I was gathering names on my councillor nomination form, I listened to a wide range of opinions about the issues facing our ward and our city.
While the views on the issues vary, everyone agrees with the need to be respectful, reasonable and responsive. That's my commitment.
I plan to collaborate with my council colleagues, city administrators and residents of Ward 11 to push for what's right, implement agreed solutions and communicate the rationale and results.
I'm confident my combination of education, experience and ethics would make a valuable contribution to the city of Calgary. I hope you agree.
